Do humans think too much?

Where we came from, where we're going, what's the meaning, etc etc....

When you see a beautiful man, or woman, or pair of shoes or a sports car, you just think 'Wahey!' and appreciate it. It seems humans cannot be the same regarding their own existence.

(I realise a pair of shoes and life are slightly removed from one another...)

Does anyone agree with me, or wish to elaborate?

Please no answers that belittle my intelligence or viewpoint, it's just an open-minded and reflective question which I don't mean to offend by any stretch of the imagination.

Do humans think too much?
Some of them don't think enough, never mind too much.
Reply:I think once you have satisfied all your basic needs - food , shelter, status etc. then we seem to change as beings and look for the next big thing.
Reply:Yes!!

Thinking to much = Schizophrenia

But then again...thats what seperates us from the ''animals''

Wait, did someone already say that?
Reply:Of course we think too much. We question, we ponder. But just remember: You can doubt anything, if you think about it long enough.
Reply:Maybe. I have found that people who just except things tend to be happier.
Reply:Maybe a question should only be asked if its reason for being asked is purposeful to deliver a positive result - if not, why not just let it be.

The human existance is such an amazingly vast and complex existance that the individuality of each ones own questioning becomes lost. We are always going to intellectualise certain situtions as we have the temporal lobes and I have always thought how peacful the animal kingdom is with their relatively smaller and more simple brain arrangement. Animals exist by accepting 'what is' and 'what isnt' they accept that one action brings a reward and another brings no reward. Oh to be a dog.(except not to be one if I have to do the bum thing)

I believe we humans have gotten the priorities and boundaries confused with when and why to question. Not everything needs to have a label of recognition does it. Why can't it just be!?
Reply:Of course humans think too much!

We will never find the truths to all our questions, so the answers live within our imaginations.

I think (ha ha) thinking is a fabulous thing! What do you think?

(What a fab question )
Reply:some really think too much but don't be one. For in this world u have some 'Troubles', when u worry u make it 'Double', don't worry, be happy.
Reply:The problem is some humans think too much and some dont think at all. No one is in between as Nietzsche suggested
Reply:i believe we do.

we question what we can not understand or may never find the answer to.

but if we didnt ask the questions we'd still be living in the stone ages.

the ability to question and then go on to find the answer (even if only on a personal level ie. some believing their faith is why they exist) is what makes us human. without the power to question whats the point to knowledge?
Reply:you could have a good point...but cant you edit your question slighty, pointing out that men dont think atall and women have to think for both?!!
Reply:i know that WOMEN THINK TO MUCH if women were to spend less time thinking and more time cleaning the home,,,then society would be much better,,,,,
Reply:Can a person think too much? Yes, of course, if it affects the quality of their life detrimentally. Apart from that, it is 'human nature' to think about why we are here, to seek a reason for that and to draw conclusions from those thoughts. It would be easier perhaps, if we were able to live our lives in the way you describe with your example - to be unquestioning and just enjoying the moment. As human beings, we have the ability to do both, to search for meaning and to just enjoy without questioning. Interesting, isn't it?
Reply:You proved your own point - you think too much.

You want to try and belittle other people for their thinking but cannot stop yourself from your own thinking and belittling others.

Would you really care that that the pair of shoes you buy would have been put together by slave labour probably underage slave labour?

Would you care that your gas guzzling sports car would be damaging the environment so much that human existence would be endangered, if not in this generation then certainly in future generations?

Would you really care if you had some mindless sexual relationship with someone and later broke up their family?

Well I guess from your comments - the answers to above would be No.

In your life there is no meaning to anything and everything is for the sole exploitation by the strong and to hell with the weak or poor?

You think that everything you see and experience came about by some random chance event, yet you cannot help attributing designer labels to everything from a little watch to a big car, or something as insignificant as underwear . The only problem you have is if someone says that God created anything.

You want to exploit any and everything but want to stop others from acting with kindness, compassion and respect towards others.
Reply:some are not capable of thought they are prepared to swallow any old bullshit that they read hence the bible fans
