Does anyone buy a product solely because it has celebrity endorsement?

Have you bought a product just because a celebrity has said they use it? How influenced are you by this form of advertising? Would you swap brands just because, say, a movie star you admired started using it?

Vast amounts of money is given to sports people to advertise sports shoes; or movie stars to say how good a hair shampoo is. Is it cool to copy?

Does anyone buy a product solely because it has celebrity endorsement?
I am actually highly SUSPECT of celeb endorsements! I'm actually much LESS likely to buy based on a celeb endorsement.

My take on it is this: If they have to spend all that money to try to get me to buy the product, what's wrong with it in the first place??
Reply:if the product is new in the market, i solely depend on the celebrity endorser! but if i have tried a certain product which falls down to same product line, i would go to what i've already tested! because loyalty is hard to gain!

its not cool to copy! originality sticks well to the consumers!
Reply:I don't
Reply:I think a new product with a celebrity endorsement would sell better than a new product that nobody endorses.

It depends on the celebrity.

If Brittany Spears endorsed something I would go for another brand.

Sporting equipment won't survive without a celebrity endorsement.

Most of the time I don't care who uses the product.

If Richard Petty told me personally what oil to use and why I would take his advice.

If his name is on the bottle it doesn't carry as much importance.
Reply:heavens no, i think it makes you aware of options or new products but i'm going to buy things only because they work and i like them regardless of what anyone says.
Reply:no they buy the best brand
